Repeat Prescriptions

Patients on long-term medication can order their repeat prescriptions in a number of ways:

  • In person - hand the computerised counterfoil in at reception having ticked the items required. Please also circle 'chemist' or 'surgery' at the end of the page to indicate where you would like to collect your prescription.
  • By post - send it to us with a stamped addressed envelope if you want us to post it back to you.
  • Online - follow the link at the top of this page and complete a simple one-off registration.

Please allow two full working days for prescriptions to be processed and remember to take weekends and bank holidays into account.

Electronic Prescribing Service

This practice is set up for the electronic prescription service.

This means that for most patients we can send your prescription to your chosen chemist directly saving you having to come down to the surgery.

To get your prescription sent to your chosen pharmacy you will have to ask reception to sign up.

Medication Reviews

Patients on repeat medication will be asked to see a doctor, nurse practitioner or practice nurse at least once a year to review these regular medications and notification should appear on your repeat slip.

Please ensure that you book an appropriate appointment to avoid unnecessary delays to further prescriptions.

Private Prescriptions

Chadwell Heath Surgery does not convert the first Private Prescription into a NHS Prescription. All patients who are given a private prescription by a Consultant would need to buy the medication directly from the Pharmacy.

However, if the medication is to be continued after the first prescription, your GP would consider to offer a follow up review and could add the medication onto your Acute Medication List accordingly.
